A Bit About Me
Rabia Deetjent is a dual American-German citizen who speaks English as her native language. She lived in Amman, Jordan for four years where she studied Modern Standard Arabic and the Leventinte Dialect at the prestigious Qasid institute. She later moved to Germany and studied German at the Aristotelis Institute of Bremen. Most recently, she completed her BA Degree in Political Science (with a Specialization in the Middle East) at Columbia University in New York City.
About my Classes
For Arabic, I use the custom-made Meridian Arabic program. I also take advantage of secondary sources, such as Al-Kitaab, Qasid Insitute grammar guides, Yalla Nardesh (for the Jordanian/Palestinian dialect) and the Hanz Wehr dictionary. I actively work to tailor lessons to the students individual needs. Additionally, I have a lot of experience working with children, so welcome to all young learners as well!

For English, Rabia is open to using a student’s preference in textbooks or conversation guides. She also works with the the New Interchange and Passage Series of Textbooks by Cambridge, as well as the Reading Explorer Series by National Geographic. As for German, she uses her personally curated grammar guides, as well as Cornelson A1/A2 Deutsch grammar and exercises.
